Attitude is Everything and Goal Setting

So.... I haven't had anything to say lately. Shocking, I know. But here's the 411 for now.

I had been doing really well, and then didn't exactly fall off the wagon -- more like plummeted, with weekend potlucks in the ED (there is nothing wrong with 4 desserts!) and less time to work out now that Ian is out of school. But, I have managed to climb back up, and amazingly enough, the damage was not as bad as I thought. I did manage to gain back 2 pounds, but I'm plugging away at getting those off.

I have to say, girlies, I'm really impressed with the positive and realistic attitudes so far. Setting small, realistic goals is so important. I'm going to quote St. Francis of Assisi, "Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible". What St. Francis is basically saying, and what I want you to be able to do is, to start making small changes as you can, until you find that your small changes have added up to some rather HUGE change.

So, what about goals for this week? Mine are to lose 1 pound. To eat healthy. Minimize the empty calories (wine coolers, sugar, chips) and to maximize the good things - lots of water, fruits and veggies, and to pick up the physical activity again. I want to get 3 decent workouts in again this week, starting tonight with a bike and swim. So.... we'll see.

Katie, I'm glad you got the stuff I sent you -- hope it's been helpful. I know the points books were like my Bible early on. I still refer to my extra set quite a bit, but overtime I've gotten to learn what things are. Perhaps the saddest thing in there though is the alarmingly high points value of Pilsburry cinnamon rolls..... Really gotta budget for those suckers. Oh well.

Great goals, Kim! Like you said, I think the real key is to set reasonable goals that will yield slow, but steady results. And thanks again for those books. They really have been incredibly helpful!

P.S. Yesterday was the first time I actually stayed WITHIN my point limit! Woot! I am now W-1.2 pounds.
