Week off

Well, I quite obviously did not count my points at all last week, what with the 8 jiggity billion house guests and loads of eating out. It was a nice break...I thought I'd be worried about gaining all week long, but truth be told, I wasn't worried at all. I peeked at the scale on Friday after everyone had left (which I never, ever do!) to assess the damage, and it said I'd LOST a pound! What!? There are many theories about why one loses after a week of not "dieting" but for my purposes, it does not matter. I know that I do not want to eat that way all the time anymore. On one too many occasions I walked away from a lunch or dinner feeling overly full and uncomfortable, which is not a feeling I've missed. And yeah, I ate some pretty frackin delicious food this week, but I also have learned how to cook some great food too, so it's fine.

I went back to counting points today, and I was able to do it with minimum hair-pulling. Again, the feeling of being in control of every piece of food I ate was wonderful; I have a bunch of leftover taco meat so I made a little taco salad with the meal, cheese, sour cream, veggies, and crunched up taco shells with spanish rice. It was 9 points but super good, and I need to get rid of that meat before it goes bad. Mmmm, deliciousness.

Tomorrow I am going to embark upon my meal planning journey. My freezer is stocked with lunch options for school (can't believe I start this week...guh) and I have fresh fruit and veggies too. Tomorrow night I am going to make a batch of the pesto turkey burgers for the week, as well as marinate a few chicken breasts. If I can be consistent, I think the meal planning will work well. If I can't...well, we'll deal with that if it happens.

Yay for healthiness, friends, and the promise of a better school year than last :)
