I'm bringing Sexy Back...

So, with the birth of 2 boys, the most recent just 2 months ago, this momma is ready for weight loss boot camp. I love how the first few weeks following birth that needle on the scale is on a free fall downward. But, then it stops. And that stinks. Now, it's on me - mother nature has done her share to clean up those extra pregnancy pounds, but the rest of the work has landed squarely on my shoulders. My weight seems to have stabilized at 184 lbs. (Yes, I shared the number... I'm not pleased. But, if I'm going to make this work, I need to take a good, honest look at what's happening). Those last 2 digits need to be reversed in order to be at my ideal body weight. But a 10% loss is my first goal, which I think I can do by summer's end. So, I'm starting back on Weight Watchers again, which I've had great success with in the past. I'm planning for it to work again. Not hoping - hope is too passive. To make this work, I need to be an active partici...

Here we go...

Okay, so I really suck at the whole eating healthy food thing. I'm still stuck in the rut of eating crap or not eating at all. Today was my last day of school, though, so we'll see if I can fix that (minus the two-day binge this weekend). In better news, though, I just weighed myself and the scale is reading W-11 for me since we started this last summer. That means I lost the rest of the ten pounds I originally lost, but one extra! Woo! But... I'm not going to get that excited because I did just work out, so most of that is probably water weight. And I still would have about 13 more pounds to go to get to my goal weight. That's frickin' hard. I also have been back on track with working out. I'm running about 3.5 miles per day right now, and have been running pretty consistently all week. I really hope to keep that up this summer since I'm not really going to have anything else to occupy my time. I'd hate to see this summer turn into a waste by...

It's almost laughable...

...how badly the last 9 months have gone, diet-wise. I think we can safely say that I have zero self-control or will-power during the school year. I mean, that's pretty sad. Much weight gained back. MUCH. Not all of it, which I guess is a thing to be proud of...but barely, man. BARELY. I don't know what my deal is with diet and exercise during the school year. I really let things get out of control and then it feels like there's no escape from the damage I've created, so why bother? Luckily, summer comes and serves mostly as a motivator. And since today was my last day until August 10th, I've got some time to refocus my efforts. I think, starting tomorrow, I'll just start counting points and working out again. I mean, that's what works, right? It's just doing it. Today is sot of already a bust, given the mini pig-out we had to celebrate the last day in the English office. Still though, I suppose I'll *try* to behave. I think this week...

Hrmph.

Okay, so the first week back has not gone so well. It hasn't gone terribly either, but I definitely wouldn't say it's gone well. I weighed myself the other night, and starting with W (which was my weight when I began this last summer), I am still W-6 pounds. So not bad, right?? That means that I only gained back four over the school year ... although I still kinda feel like a roly poly. Food has been bad news this week. Here is my problem: I live in opposite extremes. Right now, I'm not really watching what I'm eating. I'll eat things that are delicious and terrible for me. But at the same time, I have days where I don't really eat much. This is primarily due to the fact that I am lazy, tired, and can't force myself to wake up any earlier than I already do. Thus, lunch usually is just a cup of yogurt and a few chocolates, and sometimes nothing at all. So I either eat a lot of bad stuff, or not much at all. I don't think that can be good...

Second annual Operation Coup d'Fat

Aight. I am ready to begin Coup d'Fat the Second. I have not yet weighed myself, but I am pretty sure that I currently weigh less than I did at this point last year (but more than I did at the end of last summer). I have already begun to work out a little more consistently, which sadly only equates to about two times a week right now. While there is really no point in counting today's points, I will project for tomorrow: Jell-o for breakfast (don't judge me ... we need to go shopping). Yogurt and string cheese for breakfast. Some kind of chicken and veggies for dinner? No idea what that point total equates to. We'll see. Maureen, get your butt in gear and help me out.

Yikes...!

OK, Katie. I have been shamed into this again. Talk about taking a major hiatus! I haven't counted points since early September, and I'm relatively sure I was subsisting solely on fast food through the entire production period of the winter play. This is no good, and I'm perfectly aware of it, too. The last time I got on a scale, I was up 8 or 9 pounds from what I was at the end of the summer. I'm sure I've gained at least another 5 of that back. Now, focusing on the positive, that's still a total loss of 20-ish pounds since June, but gaining so much weight in so little time is part of a larger (hah! no pun intended) issue I've been trying to control for years. I will say that the stress of this semester hasn't been nearly as bad as I'd assumed it would be, and for the most part my terrible food choices are a result of sheer laziness. That's just something I have to get a hold on again. And while the holidays won't be the easiest tim...

'Tis the Season....

.... to be a big ol' fatty! Okay, this blog has been defunct for far too long. I know that *I* really need some more motivation to keep the pounds coming off. I did a really nice job between this summer and Halloween, effectively losing between 8 and 10 pounds depending on the day and time I weighed myself. Since Halloween, however, I've "rewarded" myself with far too many pizzas, chocolate poptarts, chips, just generally bad food, and zero working out. I've decided that now "reward-time" is over - it's been about a month - and now I need to move forward on my weight-loss goals. I'm not going to beat myself up over the "reward time," but it's time to move on now. And despite the terrible food I've eaten, I'm still down 10 pounds (as of yesterday morning), or 4 pounds (as of today). What is with my weight fluctuations?! I mean, I know yesterday was Thanksgiving, but 6 pounds?? I'm sure all the fat I ate hasn...
