Here We Go Again...

Alright, so a new house, new car, new puppy, two kids, and too many pounds later.... it's time to recommence the Coup d' Fat! Went dress shopping with Maureen and Michelle for Ashley's wedding, and after discovering that NOTHING looked good on me, I figured it's time to kick it into high gear to lose this baby weight (because you can only blame the baby weight so long, right?)

Here is my problem with my body now: I started my pregnancy with Noah 7 pounds heavier than I started my pregnancy with Ty. I actually gained less weight with Noah but at the end of the pregnancy was still 3 pounds heavier with Noah than with Ty. At this point, I have lost all but 7 pounds of my baby weight. However, I'm also coping with floppy belly skin (I know not all of this is fat, some is just stretched skin... how the heck do you get rid of that?! I guess just try to get rid of the fat underneath it) and bigger hips. Bleh :(

I'm committed to working out as much as I can to lose some of this. Right now, though, I'm trying to be cognizant of the fact that after not working out for 9 months, I need to be careful to avoid injury. (My poor left knee has already endured some of the brunt of my first several runs... guess I have to stretch.) And finding TIME to work out has been the biggest issue since all of these life changes have occurred. I know that this is no excuse, BUT.. any workout challenges I encounter mean that I need to also really kick my diet into high gear.

Here are my diet goals:

Ultimate Goal: Find ways to eat healthier without negatively impacting my ability to breastfeed. They say a breastfeeding mom needs 500 calories more than she did *when she was pregnant*! Which means I supposedly need 800 calories more than beforeI got pregnant. (That seems impossible to lose weight with those kind of numbers... I guess I just need to pack quality food into the calories).

 Sub Goals:
 1. Cook more at home. (This does not include throwing in a frozen pizza or making mac n cheese.)

 2. Discover more healthy recipes.

 3. Eliminate all (or nearly all) soda and juice. All empty calories with little nutritional value. Just drink water instead.

 4. Eat at least one veggie serving a day. (I know the food pyramid or whatever says you obviously need more than one. However, I could probably go almost a whole week without having a REAL veggie serving... really sad, but true. So baby steps.)

I guess that's it for now. I'm not even going to count today because my breakfast and lunch were not healthy at all. But from this point forward, I'm going to try the WW diet that we did before. I know it's a new system, but I might just use what I did before since it worked. I think that meant I got like 18-22ish points a day? Somewhere in there? I'll double check. Anyway, need to get rid of the junk food and do a healthy shopping and get this started!

Maureen, you with me?
